The 2025 harvest has already begun! The whites are coming in and by late September through early December the red varietals will have been either hand picked or machined too. This will be Lions Peak’s 33rd harvest! If you go to the Lions Peak web site, there are a few photos of the beginning years of Lions Peak Vineyard which date back to the early 1990’s.

The first photo shows the the old Cabernet Sauvignon vines that were planted in Block I and II, and you will see the original wooded grape stakes which were used in vineyards until metal ones replaced them. Reflecting on the initial harvest in 1992, I have vivid memories of setting aside a ton of grapes to make our first wines. Little did I know how much labor was involved in hand harvesting a ton of grapes. Contrary to opinion, it was more than just removing the grapes from the vine.

When the grapes are ripe, it is all of the bees that love the sugar in the grapes. Having to remove the fruit and watch out for the bees and, of course, any snakes that were relaxing in the shade of the vines was an experience beyond sitting on the veranda and having a glass of your favorite wine.

Besides harvesting the grapes for Lions Peak’s own brand, Lions Peak has sold our grapes to Rodney Strong, Kendall Jackson, Sextant, J.Lohr, and a few other small producers and home wine makers.

However, every harvest was unique, and many times because of the weather conditions, labor and equipment never stopped being extremely nerve racking and challenging until harvest was complete. For myself, harvest has been a special part of my life, and I view it as the culmination of dedication, labor, and the reality of farming.

WINE CLUB SELECTIONS

For the wine clubs that I personally curate, I have included our newly released wines which have already begun receiving accolades. Club members who choose their own selections may make changes to their club selections if they wish to try one of Lions Peak’s new releases.
Should you wish to order an additional six bottles, you will receive an additional 10% on your new order. Also, if you choose to change to club to a 12 bottle- case club, all case club shipments receive 35% savings on club shipments. Case clubs receive two shipments of 12 bottles and an additional 6 bottle shipment with the Holiday selection in November.

CULINARY CORNER
This Summer I have been working on Lions Peak’s web site and setting up a new section which focuses on wine and cheese pairings with a second page on wine and chocolate. For many years we have offered Lions Peak’s wine with cheese plates with our wine tasting, or with a special Lions Peak wine tasting menu that is paired select cheese.

Culinary Corner has my recommendations for your wine and cheese pairing with our wine. Hopefully you will find this section on our web site useful for everyday or for special occasions. I would enjoy hearing your comments.

WINE SHIPMENTS

Moving forward with your wine shipments, Lions Peak has finished the integration process of our online website, our winery storage, and fulfillment of all of our clubs and wine sales. For all of your orders a UPS tracking notification will be sent to you…We do our very best to make certain that your wines arrive to you in optimum condition. In the event that you wish to have your shipment held while you are away, notify us.
